General question time

MSPs questioned Health Secretary Alex Neil, Infrastructure, Investment and Cities Secretary Nicola Sturgeon, Learning Minister Alasdair Allan, Enterprise Secretary Fergus Ewing, Transport Minister Keith Brown, Public Health Minister Michael Matheson and Culture Secretary Fiona Hyslop during general question time on 20 September 2012.

Issues that arose included the reported increase in binge drinking at home, what discussions the Scottish government has had with the UK government regarding its contract with Atos for carrying out work capability assessments and whether the Scottish government would publish its plans for broadcasting in an independent Scotland before the referendum.

In reply to the question from SNP MSP Kevin Stewart on the Atos assessments contract Nicola Sturgeon said that the Scottish government had made clear their ongoing concerns of these assessments.

Ms Sturgeon said that Mr Stewart made a" very, very serious point" and that there had been may concerns from constituents.

Mr Stewart said the contract was flawed and " a complete waste of money" and that the money would be better spent paying for DLA.
