SNP MSP Christine Grahame asked Environment and Climate Change Minister Paul Wheelhouse to provide an update on the Scottish government's flood prevention programme during topical question time on 20 November 2012.
Mr Wheelhouse said that the Scottish government was working with partners to implement the
Flood Risk Scotland Management Act 2009.
He said it was "the most substantial change in flooding legislation in 50 years".
During the weekend heavy rain and flooding caused disruption across Scotland.
Firefighters in Perthshire were dealing with a major flooding incident at Comrie, near Crieff, where the Water of Ruchill burst its banks.
About 100 homes in the village were said to be at risk from the flooding, with some residents being evacuated.
