Members' business: Modern apprenticeship learning provider of 2010

Labour MSP Elaine Murray used her member's debate to congratulate Dumfries based company Minerva People Ltd for winning the Modern Apprenticeship Learning Provider of 2010 award, on 19 January 2011.

Ms Murray, MSP for Dumfries, said that Minerva was dedicated to giving young people the opportunity to work and train at the same time and that she was "delighted to have the opportunity to celebrate a local success story".

She also said she believed that the provision of skills and employment through the modern apprenticeship programme was essential to the recovery of the Scottish economy.

Skills Minister Angela Constance the debate had highlighted the importance of modern apprenticeship programmes to Scotland and that they were about "capitalising on the aspiration of people all over Scotland and channelling it into creating a more successful economy".
