Member's debate

The SNP's Christine Grahame led a member's debate on Post Office development and diversification on 27 January 2010.

Ms Grahame, MSP for the south of Scotland, said the Post Office network played a key role of in urban and rural communities.

She also commended the Post Office diversification fund, introduced in Wales, to help them offer new services during the recession.

Ms Grahame called for a similar scheme in Scotland.

Mr Mather also said that there should be a balance between rural and urban post offices.
