First minister's question time 7 January 2010

Scottish Labour leader Iain Gray has accused the Scottish government of complacency over the weather crisis in Scotland.

During a wintry first minister's questions on 7 January 2010, First Minister Alex Salmond rejected the charge and said ministers had worked throughout the holiday period to co-ordinate the government's response to the big freeze.

Scottish Conservative leader Annabel Goldie wanted more community offenders to be given a shovel to clear streets and pavements throughout Scotland.

Tavish Scott, the Scottish Liberal Democrat leader, also focussed on the weather, asking why so many schools had to close during severe weather.
