Finance Secretary John Swinney has again defended his decision to drop the Glasgow Airport Rail Link, during a member's debate led by Labour MSP Bill Butler.

Several MSPs criticised the decision not to include the rail link in the Scottish government's proposed budget for the year ahead.

Mr Swinney said the project was cancelled due to a lower-than-expected budget in 2010-11 and warned the recession meant public spending would be tight in future years.
