Inquiry into unadopted roads part two

The regional development minister said the responsibility for providing new roads and sewers lay with developers and he had no immediate plans to change this, on 4 December 2012.

Danny Kennedy said he would not rule out broadening the mechanisms in the future.

He was responding to a Regional Development Committee report which contained 10 key recommendations for dealing with unadopted roads in Northern Ireland.

Mr Kennedy said he supported its policy direction in principle.

The minister criticised the committee for issuing a "premature" press release, which was sent out to the media before he had responded to the debate.

The motion, tabled by the committee, sought approval for the report's recommendations and was passed on an oral vote.

The first part of the debate can be viewed here.
