Education Bill

The Assembly agreed to allow the Education Committee more time to scrutinise the Education Bill, on 26 November 2012.

The bill seeks to replace the five education boards and the Council for Catholic Maintained Schools with a single Education and Skills Authority (ESA).

The committee chairman, Mervyn Storey of the DUP, said members needed an extension until 8 April 2013 to examine to the "substantive evidence" it had received.
