Charities Bill: Consideration stage

The Charities Bill completed its consideration stage, on 20 November 2012.

The bill sought to transfer certain functions of the Department for Social Development to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland.

The Minister for Social Development, Nelson McCausland, commended the bill to the house.

Social Development Committee chairman Alex Maskey of Sinn Fein expressed the committee's satisfaction with the bill.

The bill was also supported by speakers from the SDLP and the Alliance Party.
