Jobseekers Allowance

Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland said changes to the Jobseekers Allowance regulations were worthwhile and necessary, on 9 October 2012.

The minister explained that the changes were designed to enable victims of domestic violence to continue to be treated as if they were available for work and to receive Jobseekers Allowance .

Alex Maskey of Sinn Fein expressed the support of the Social Development Committee.

The motion was carried on an oral vote.
