Education advertisements in Irish

Education Minister John O'Dowd told the Assembly he would be speaking to the Attorney General regarding "leaks"in connection with a DUP urgent oral question, on 2 October 2012.

The DUP's Gregory Campbell asked the question about Irish language education advertisements.

Mr O'Dowd defended the use of the Irish language in the advertisements

Mr Campbell questioned whether Mr O'Dowd's actions put him in breach of the ministerial code.

The minister said the Irish language was part of everyday life for thousands of people in Northern Ireland.

"Irish-speaking people pay tax therefore have rights," he added.
