Finance Minister Sammy Wilson briefed the assembly on a recent North South Ministerial Council (NSMC) meeting on special EU programmes, on 28 May 2012.
The minister assured members that fears previously expressed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) concerning future funding were being addressed.
The SEUPB had warned the NSMC that £35m in EU funds might be at risk if they were not allocated by the start of 2013.
Mr Wilson said that in January 2012 the SEUPB had issued a call for projects. This had attracted 91 applications seeking nearly £190m in funds.
The NSMC meeting also heard from representatives of the Rural Enabler project, a £2.7m initiative aiming to build positive relations between all communities in rural areas of Northern Ireland and the border counties of the Republic.
