Education minister John O'Dowd informed MLAs of the latest cross-border co-operation on teaching, on 10 October 2011.
The minister was reporting on the recent meeting of the North South Ministerial Council (NSMC) on education.
The matters discussed included school inspector exchanges, tackling educational underachievement and the Middletown Centre for Autism.
The DUP's Mervyn Storey, who chairs the education committee, asked the minister if he was coming to the conclusion that the Middletown centre was unsustainable.
The minister expressed his continued support for the Middletown project.
Dominic Bradley of the SDLP was asked to sit down by the deputy speaker, Roy Beggs.
The MLA was asking a question in Irish and the speaker felt that he was taking too long to complete his question and give an English translation.
"I refuse to sit down," Mr Bradley said.
After an exchange of words with the deputy speaker, Mr Bradley gave his translation.
