Jobseeker's Allowance Regulations 2010

The Social Development Minister Alex Attwood moved a motion on the Jobseeker's Allowance (Lone Parents) (Availability for Work) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010 on 13 September 2010.

The rule in question allows lone parents with children aged 12 or under to restrict their availability for work to suit their shild's school hours without affecting their Jobseeker's Allowance. It brings Northern ireland regulations into line with the rest of the United Kingdom.

The minister said that it was important to protect those in need, poverty and distress in this time of budget cuts.

The change to the regulations was widely welcomed by the parties.
