Demographic Change Committee

Peers took evidence on 9 January 2012 on the challenges posed to society by increased longevity.

The witnesses were:

  • Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt
  • Care Services Minister Norman Lamb
  • Work and Pensions Minister Steve Webb.

The committee was appointed in May 2012 to consider public service provision in the light of demographic change.

In February, the committee will report on the implications of an ageing population for services including the healthcare, social care and pensions systems.
