Violence against women debate

Peers took part in a debate called by Conservative peer Baroness Jenkin of Kennington on how the government can prevent violence against women, on 29 November 2012.

The UN defines violence against women as "violence that is directed at a woman because she is a woman or that affects women disproportionately".

The campaign group End Violence Against Woman estimates that up to three million women across the UK experience violence each year.
