On 21 January 2010, peers debated the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Amendment) Bill in committee.

This is a private member's bill introduced by Lib Dem peer Lord Dholakia.

The bill amends the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 to reduce the length of time for which a former criminal has to declare a conviction when applying for a job.

It has the support of Unlock - the National Association of Reformed Offenders - which has campaigned for the 1974 Act to be reformed.
