Debate on charity donation trends

Labour MP John Robertson led a debate on trends in donations to charity on 8 January 2013.

A report by the Charities Aid Foundation published in November 2012 estimates the total amount donated to charity by adults in 2011-12 as £9.3bn.

The report says this represents a decrease of £1.7bn in cash terms compared to 2010-11 - or £2.3bn in real terms, after adjusting for inflation.

These figures are for England and Wales.
