National Security Strategy Committee

Home Secretary Theresa May gave evidence to MPs and peers on 17 December 2012.

The joint committee scrutinises the government's strategies on national security, of which the latest was published in October 2010.

Entitled Strong Britain in an Age of Uncertainty, it is due to be in place until 2015 and highlights cyber crime, alongside terrorism and a flu pandemic, among the key dangers to UK security.

It contained an extra £500m to bolster cyber security, focused on protecting key infrastructure and defence assets.
