UK manufacturing debate

On 22 November 2012, MPs took part in a backbench business debate on UK manufacturing industries.

The debate was led by Labour's Jonathan Reynolds and Conservative Chris White to raise the issue of industrial policy, a matter which has been a key part of the work of the Associate Parliamentary Manufacturing Group (APMG) of which both MPs co-chair, with Labour MP Barry Sheerman.

The APMG is a cross-party group which brings together major manufacturers, business representative groups, trade unions, banks and parliamentarians.

The group has published the report Developing a Modern Industrial Policy: a cross-party call to Government .
