Ten Minute Rule Bill

On 6 November 2012, Labour MP Nic Dakin introduced a Ten Minute Rule Bill seeking to extend the provision of free school meals to eligible teenagers over the age of 16 who are attending colleges.

Currently, children over the age of 16 can receive free school meals if they are attending a school, academy or free school.

Children become eligible for free school meals if their parents are in receipt of certain state benefits.
