Defence Committee: Afghanistan

The Commons Defence Committee took evidence from defence journalists as part of its inquiry into the future of Afghanistan, on 26 June 2012.

MPs heard from the Evening Standard's defence correspondent, Robert Fox, and defence journalist and former soldier Francis Tusa.

The session was part of the committee's new inquiry into progress towards a secure and stable Afghanistan within the wider region, including Pakistan.

It also looks at plans by the UK, NATO and other allies for the transition of responsibility for security to the Afghan government and Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF).

The UK remains committed to a timetable for withdrawal of compat troops from Afghanistan by the end of 2014.
