Conservative MP Damian Collins has proposed a bill to make football finances transparent.
Mr Collins, MP for Folkestone and Hythe, introduced the Football (Financial Transparency) Bill on 13 March 2012, which draws on concerns raised by the Culture, Media and Sport committee's inquiry into the running of football clubs.
In particular, it would require clubs to make it clear who their owners are. Last year the Football League was unable to say who owned Coventry City FC, and there are similar issues with other clubs.
Labour MP John Mann spoke against the bill - but did not force a vote on it.
