Home Affairs committee: Hearing into riots and policing

The House of Commons Home Affairs committee questioned London Mayor Boris Johnson plus senior police officers on 6 September 2011.

The hearing was into the policing of large scale disorder following the riots in London and other English cities seen during August.

The session began with questions to Mr Johnson and Kit Malthouse, Deputy Mayor of London.

Their appearance was followed by questions to Commissioner Tim Godwin and Assistant Commissioner Lynne Owens from the Metropolitan Police.

The next witnesses were Sir Hugh Orde, president, and Chief Constable Tim Hollis, vice president, Association of Chief Police Officers, with the final witnesses being Len Jackson, interim chair, and Deborah Glass, deputy chair, Independent Police Complaints Commission.
