Hospital services in Shropshire

Shrewsbury and Atcham MP Daniel Kawczynski has criticised the reconfiguration of hospitals in Shropshire, during a Westminster Hall debate on 9 February 2011.

Under plans for reform of the country's hospital services,, Princess Royal in Telford and Royal Shrewsbury hospitals would both keep their A&E departments but other services could be moved under plans.

The Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust would move the main maternity and in-patient paediatric services to Telford, along with the obstetric and neo-natal intensive care unit.

Mr Kawczynski said people in rural Shropshire and neighbouring mid Wales were dependent on Shrewsbury hospital and that there had been a lack of engagement with local people.
