Ten Minute Rule Bill

On 11 January 2011, Conservative MP Richard Bacon proposed a bill aiming to improve the transparency of supermarket food labelling.

Meat and meat products labelled as British or carrying the union jack, for example, would have to be born and bred in Britain.

Mr Bacon says the bill would give consumers more information about where the food they buy comes from.
