Business Minister Pat McFadden has told the Commons that the government will create an expanded class of technicians by boosting apprenticeships.

In a Commons statement on 11 November, Mr McFadden said greater weight would be placed on the needs of employers when deciding what kind of skills were taught in further education.

He said the government would create 35,000 new advanced apprenticeships places over the next two years to help build the "new, modern class of technicians" to equip Britain for the future.
