Time for reflection

On Wednesdays in the Scottish Parliament, business starts with "time for reflection", when MSPs hear a short speech on a matter of philosophical interest.

The speakers are varied, reflecting both religious and secular viewpoints.

Unlike prayers in the Westminster Parliament, which are held in secret, members of the public are allowed to watch time for reflection either in person, by attending Holyrood, or on TV.
