Question on aircraft baggage rules

Watch live coverage of MEPs questioning the European Commission from 7.30am on 17 January 2013 on aircraft baggage rules.

MEPs will ask what action is being taken to end what the Transport Committee see as "restrictive" rules by airlines in the EU on hand-luggage requirements.

The committee has been critical of the "one-bag" rule imposed by certain companies which can often restrict purchases made by customers after passing through passport control and luggage drop-off.

The Commission will be asked whether it will bring forward measures to bring in a harmonisation of the rules imposed by airlines, such as a common upper limit on the size and weight of hand luggage.
