On 3 July 2012, MEPs held a debate on the draft EU budget for 2013.
The session allows the Parliament to set out its position on the draft budget in preparation for the first "trilogue" negotiation meeting between representatives from the Council, Commission and Parliament, due to take place on 9 July.
Later that day,
MEPs passed a resolution concerning the debate.
The European Council is expected to vote on the 2013 budget on 26 July.
This will be followed by votes in the budgets committee and in a plenary session of the European Parliament in October.
