As MEPs gathered in Strasbourg for their final plenary session before the summer break, the future of the EU and the euro was looking increasingly uncertain.
The final ever edition of the Record Europe asked whether the next parliamentary year would be one of integration or disintegration, with EU institutions facing on the one side calls for deeper political integration and on the other increasingly differing demands from national governments.
As Cyprus takes over the presidency from Denmark, Shirin Wheeler was joined by five MEPs to discuss whether the EU is at a turning point: German Liberal Alex Lambsdorff, Dutch Green Judith Sargentini, British ConservativeTimothy Kirkhope, Greek Socialist Dimitrios Droutsas, and the UK Independence Party's Nigel Farage.
The Record: Europe examines the key moments in the political week in Brussels and Strasbourg and focuses on the work of the European Parliament and European Commission.
