Mid-term might insinuate a potential for malaise, but for the Institute for Government this is a real threat currently facing Westminster's coalition.
In the think tank's report entitled "A Game of Two Galves - How coalition governments renew in mid-term and last the full term" it warns the government it must commit to a renewal plan now - or risk governing ineffectively.
Joining Alicia McCarthy is the co-author of the report Akash Paun, senior researcher and coalition expert at the Institute for Government and the coalition veteran Lord McConnell, who lead a coalition government in the Scottish Parliament for six years.
