Updated 21 September 2004, 10.01
Luke Skywalker with Han Solo, Obi Wan Kenobi and Chewbacca on the Millennium Falcon
Star Wars is set to break all sales records 27 years after is was first released, according to reports.

The original trilogy - Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi - hit the shops on DVD on Monday.

Amazon has received over 85,000 pre-orders for the box set, beating the 50,000 record set by Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, Metro reports.

HMV said that judging from Monday's sales it's the best selling DVD box set they've ever sold.

Jabba the Hut

A spokesman said: "We opened 23 stores at midnight on Sunday and there were 400 people queuing in the rain in London - that shows how popular it is!"

Each film has been digitally remastered and some of the scenes have been updated - but they still contain the famous "Star Flaws" - over 400 mistakes spotted by fans.

The most well known is when an imperial storm trooper bursts in and bangs his head on the door frame of a space ship!
