Ray Turner, 57, was in his boat on the Margaret River in Australia, when he realised a croc had caught 11-year old Hannah Thompson by the arm, behind him.

He instantly jumped in the river to help. He said: "I landed fair on its back and I got a finger in its eye. He got a fright and he let go."

Hannah got away safely, and even joked about losing her watch in the beast!

Ray said the croc was moments away from going into a death roll, which is how it kills its victims.

Hannah's now recovering in hospital with wounds to her arm.
