  Revealed: top 10 safest places!
Updated 18 February 2004, 17.07
A car park in Derby is the world's most secure
A science magazine reckons a car park in Derby is one of the 10 most secure places in the world.

President Bush's plane Air Force One is also on the list, as is Saddam Hussein's bunker in Baghdad, Iraq and the famous US gold reserve Fort Knox.

Surprisingly the Parksafe car park in Derby is number 10 on the list, and uses top technology to keep cars safe.

The people running it say no cars have been broken into or vandalised in the six years the car park has been open.

The car park uses CCTV cameras, panic buttons, tickets with barcodes to keep vehicles safe, but the most important things are the under-car sensors.

The sensors can tell if a car has been moved even the tiniest amount without permission, and if they detect movement, all the doors on the car park shut and lock.

The top 10 most secure places in the world, according to Focus magazine, are:

  • 1 - Cheyenne Mountain, US. American defence and space missions are organised from here.
  • 2 - HavenCo. A data protection company in the North Sea.
  • 3 - ADX-Florence Prison, Colorado, US. A maximum security prison.
  • 4 - Saddam Hussein's bunker in Baghdad. Can survive a 20 kilo-ton bomb or atomic bomb.
  • 5 - The Mormon Church records store, Utah, US. Vaults incased in granite mountain.
  • 6 - Fort Knox, US. Huge bank vault with loads of America's gold in it.
  • 7 - The 1960s Bar. A bunker in Wilshire, UK.
  • 8 - Air Force One. A plane used by the US president.
  • 9 - Area 51 - A secret military facility near Las Vegas.
  • 10 - Bold Lane car park, Derby.
