Andre Van Zijl scoffed ten litres (17.5 pints) of the cold stuff in less than three hours!

He was raising money for children in South Africa with HIV/Aids. Andre is HIV-positive himself.

Andre said afterwards he felt all right: "I feel fine, if a little bit cold inside" and he added that he wasn't eating any ice cream for the rest of the year!

Andre says he's broken loads of records before including one for drinking 15 litres of milkshake and eating 4 kilogrammes of prawns!

But none of those have been confirmed by the Guinness World Records people.
