  Dozens killed in Iraqi explosions
Updated 27 October 2003, 15.30
The explosion happened early on Monday morning
A series of explosions in the Iraqi capital Baghdad are reported to have killed as many as 34 people.

More than 200 people were injured in the explosions that appeared to be co-ordinated, happening within an hour.

Suicide bombers targeted the headquarters of the International Committee of the Red Cross and four police stations in Baghdad.

The blasts come a day after a rocket attack on a hotel where a senior US official was. He escaped unharmed.

Iraq's interim Deputy Interior Minister, Ahmed Ibrahim, said 26 civilians and eight policemen were killed.

Things could have been much worse, but Iraqi police were able to stop a fifth bomber before an explosion.
