Safety warning as three boys die
Updated 17 August 2003, 17.36

Children are being warned to be more careful when playing after two boys drowned on the east coast and one boy was electrocuted.

Eight-year-old Jordan Moon and ten-year-old Liam Geary died after separate incidents on Saturday.

A coastguards spokesman said "We have got strong tides at the moment," and that people needed to be extra careful.

Jordan Moon was swept out to sea near Hartlepool, and picked up by an RAF helicopter, but they could not save him.

Liam Geary was seen in the sea at Mablethorpe, Lincolnshire, by passers by and taken to hospital, but they were too late to help.

Children were also warned to be careful near railways after an eight-year-old boy was electrocuted.

He was playing near Oriel Road station at Bootle, Merseyside on Saturday, when it is believed he fell onto the tracks.

Police don't think anything suspicious happened, but are reminding people how dangerous the electricity lines near railways can be.
