Updated 21 April 2003, 14.11
Ali Ismail Abbas
Ali Ismail Abbas, the Iraqi boy who lost both his arms in a bomb attack, is to get the best artificial arms technology can give him.

The 12-year-old has become famous all over the world as a symbol of the human cost of the Iraqi war.

He was living in Baghdad when his house was hit in a bomb attack on 30 March.

Orphaned

20 people were killed, including Ali's parents and Ali was the only survivor.

He was so badly burned doctors had to amputate both his arms.

He had to be flown to Kuwait for treatment and almost died but he's now out of danger.

Now the doctor treating Ali say he's in contact with a specialist artificial limbs unit.

Dr Ibrahim Ghaniem said he was on the lookout for the "most sophistictaed artificial limbs in the field."
