Ever since it was founded, the union has tried to work together more to ensure they have the same laws.

There's already a European Parliament that creates new laws for all the countries.

But now there are plans to have one European President, elected by leaders of all the countries and to have the same foreign policy.

Good idea or not?

That would mean all the 15 states would agree with each other on what needed to be done if a world issue, like the Iraq war, had to be dealt with.

In particular there are concerns that it may lead to the countries not having as much say over the way they're run.

Other people think it's a great idea to ensure all the people of Europe have the same rights and opportunities.
