And he's writing a web diary for CBBC Newsround.

Here he describes why everything has to be kept so secret and how bad the ship smells!

Diary entry eight

I got on Newsround today! It was great to get back on the programme and to talk to my old friend Sally who works there over the phone. Nice to hear a friendly voice.

And this evening I made best use of having some quiet time, picked up a load of phone cards, and phoned a load of friends.

It's weird not being able to tell your friends everything. The journalists on board have been told some things we're not allowed to broadcast. And that means to your friends too.

It's because some of the communications from the ship are not secure - anyone could be listening in.

Gas fears

They shut most of the hatches on the ship too. Battoned down in case we get a gas attack. It's just a precaution, but taken very seriously.

But it does make it really uncomfortable. Inside within hours it got much warmer. There's less air circulating around.

It stinks too. Really. No one seems to know where it's coming from. Again, I think it's just because the air isn't moving round. But it makes living here uncomfortable.

Signs of war

So now we're waiting. There are little signs on board that we are getting closer to war. They've shut the bar for instance.

On US war ships they have a no alcohol rule. But on Royal Navy vessels that doesn't apply.

Until now. It's a sign the ship is close to going into combat.
