Four months ago the United Nations passed a resolution called 1441 that ordered Iraq to get rid of all its weapons of mass destruction.
Weapons inspectors are searching Iraq
Since that time UN weapons inspectors have been searching the country, and say Iraq needs to do more to prove it doesn't have those weapons.
Later this week the US are going to present to the UN their version of a new resolution that will give Iraq a choice - disarm quickly or face military action.
The US seems keener than any other country about going to war, but they have struggled to convince others it is necessary.
