Some children are luckier than others and live in orphanages where they are safe and cared for.
They have food and shelter and some of them even get to go to school.
Not so lucky
Other children who still live in their villages are not so lucky. Many of them are without homes and some have been forced to become labourers or beggars just to be able to live.
The government and the Maoist rebels are now holding talks to try and agree on how to make Nepal a peaceful country.
Child rights workers want them to promise that children will be protected no matter what happens in their peace talks.
