Iraq gives UN documents on its weapons
Updated 07 December 2002, 17.27
The documents on Iraq's weapons
Iraq has handed over a huge set of documents to the United Nations which outline what weapons they say they have.

In the papers, Iraq claims to have no "weapons of mass destruction", like chemical or biological ones.

The documents, which altogether come to almost 12,000 pages, are for the UN weapons inspectors to look at.

But Iraqi officials let some reporters have a look at the documents first. This caused some chaos though as reporters scuffled to get a glimpse of the papers.

Iraq had until Sunday to give the inspectors the documents. Now they will be sent to UN offices in New York.

US President George W Bush said he and his officials will be looking at the papers very carefully, which could take a long time.

Meanwhile, two teams of UN officials continued their weapons inspections after they had stopped for a two-day Muslim holiday.
