First weapons inspection in Iraq finished
Updated 27 November 2002, 16.17
U.N. inspectors look at a metal structure in the Graphite Rod Factory in Iraq
The team of people sent to Iraq to check for weapons have finished the first part of their search.

Fact File
What are they looking for?
Nuclear bombs
Chemical and biologocal weapons which can make people sick
Signs of factories which might make weapons

The UN inspectors have been looking for any weapons of mass destruction using hi-tech equipment.

It's the first time Iraq's leader - Saddam Hussein - has let them in for four years.

Checking everywhere

Britain and America think Saddam's dangerous and want to make sure he isn't making weapons which could be used against them.

If the inspectors find something it could mean Britain and America go to war with Iraq.

And if anyone's found to be hiding weapons it could mean the same thing.

They've got till the end of January to search the country.

Saddam has until 8 December to hand over a list of his weapons which will be compared to what the inspectors find.
