Residents had to deal with strong winds, floods, power cuts and a few injuries.

But luckily there had been no deaths when Lili spun out of the state on Friday morning.

Rip off roofs

Hurricane Lili was downgraded from a dangerous category four to a category one before it hit Louisiana, so its winds were less than 100mph.

But at its peak, the winds were a terrifying 145mph!

The hurricane managed to rip off roofs, plough down trees and power lines, and leave mud and rubbish all along the coast.

By the time Lili arrived, around 900,000 people in Louisiana had been told or advised to leave their homes, for their own safety.

President George W Bush declared it a disaster area, so the state can receive aid for all the damage.

Hurricane Lili, which started out as a tropical storm, killed eight people in the Caribbean earlier this week.
