Blair reveals why Iraq is a threat

Tony Blair says Iraq could have a nuclear weapon in just a couple of years.

Iraq, led by Saddam Hussein, is about five years away from building one itself, but this could be cut in half if they can get parts from other countries.

This has been revealed in a document, released by Prime Minister Tony Blair, which he says proves Iraq is a major security threat.

The document also says there's proof Saddam is building a missile capable of striking British military bases in places like Cyprus.

But it's important to remember there's no evidence at this stage that Saddam has any weapons capable of reaching as far as the UK.

And leading Iraqis have denied the claims.

Blair has gone public with the information because he's trying to convince other MPs that some sort of action against Iraq is necessary.

But Blair faces a lot of opposition from Parliament, as lots of MPs think a possible war with Iraq should be avoided at all costs.

The papers also suggest Saddam has used chemical weapons against his own people, and that he is hiding the fact that he has weapons of mass destruction.
