McDonalds used beef fat to cook them without telling anyone, which meant vegetarians and Hindus - who don't eat beef - were eating things they didn't want to.
The fast food chain revealed the payment on their website and also said sorry to "Hindus, vegetarians and others" for wrongly describing their fries and hash browns as vegetarian in the US.
More cases to come
Some of the people who wrongly bought the food went to court against McDonalds, and the money is part of a deal to make them drop their court case.
Lots more people in America aren't happy that McDonalds was wrongly labelling some of its food and the company has still got more court cases to fight.
