Boy knocked off skateboard by flying goose
Updated 30 May 2002, 17.58

A teenager has been knocked off his skateboard by a flying goose.

Shawn Hacking, 13, from Winnipeg in Canada, suffered a sprained wrist, scraped knees and a ripped shirt when the low-flying bird flew into his face.

It's thought the goose misjudged its landing when it was trying to get to a nearby pond.

'Wham ban!'

Shawn's mum Kim said she couldn't believe his injuries were caused by a bird. "When he came in, he said, 'I got hit by a goose'. I thought that was some kind of car or something," she told the Winnipeg Free Press.

His mate Brent Bruchanski added: "It was so funny, but I felt sorry for him at the same time. It flew out of nowhere and then . . . wham bam!".
