  Bin Laden doll outsells Blair
Updated 16 April 2002, 10.55

An action man-style doll of Tony Blair has failed to sell compared to the one of Osama Bin Laden.

The Blair figure known as "Tony the Ally" has ruffled hair, a fixed grin and is dressed in an army uniform - but has not sold one doll since it went on sale six weeks ago.

Yet the Bin Laden doll has sold nearly 5,000. It's sold alongside the US President's George "make no mistake about it" Bush doll.

Real heroes

The dolls, Bush, Blair and New York mayor Rudy Giuliani, were developed by Eric Vicale after the 11 September terrorist attacks.

"These three guys saved the world that day. I thought, why give kids an action man when they can have real heroes to play with."

It was only after constant pressure from customers for a Bin Laden doll that he finally gave in. He says people wanted a villain to go with their action hero.
